What is Turo?

Updated: May 16, 2019

Turo is a worldwide car sharing service. Turo allows users to share cars with one another; posting their own vehicle for rent or renting someone else’s. This revolutionary, but very logical, car sharing service is leaving traditional car rental services in the dust. It is an alternative to the traditional, time and money-consuming car rental service.

Turo is like the Airbnb of vehicles; allowing users to rent out their own vehicles or rent someone’s. It’s way more personal than renting from a big company and can create one of a kind memory. More flexibility equals less hassle. There’s no need to waste time at a rental service counter.

Pricing on Turo

Since users can list their own vehicles, they can also control the pricing. Pricing for vehicles can run much cheaper than tradition car rental services. On average, rentals are priced 35% lower than at the service counter. Not to mention, you can let your imagination run wild with the types of vehicles available on Turo. There’s everything from minivans to electric cars, to Teslas and Lamborghinis!

As a car owner, you may still be making payments. Renting out your car via Turo can help you tackle your monthly car note. Turo’s Carculator tool helps you figure out what your car is worth, based on the market value, time of year and location. If you’d like, you also have the option to set your own daily price. Turo pays car owners within 5 days via direct deposit. The amount earned is between 65%-90% of the trip cost, depending in your level of coverage.

Turo Go App

Introduced in Fall of 2018, the Turo Go app is a brand-new feature. The Turo Go app allows owners and renters to remotely unlock their vehicle. Remote unlocking capability reduces the amount of hassle on the owner and renter. This makes renters happy, often leaving higher reviews and tips for the owners. Currently, the app is available in certain markets. Users can join a wait list for the Turo Go app.
